Lynn Tech’s football team made its way to Haverhill for a Saturday matinee with Whittier Tech. The Tigers fell short, 32-26, to fall to 3-2.

Tech had no answer for Whittier’s (5-2) Noah Allen, who totaled 115 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Tech’s Colin McGough caught a 64-yard touchdown, while Jadiel Ortega rushed for a 6-yard score in the first half – one that ended, 14-13, in favor of Whittier.

Despite a Tigers’ comeback bid in the second half, it was to no avail. They return to action Friday night at Lowell Catholic (7 p.m.).

    FOOTBALL

    Bishop Feehan 31
    Bishop Fenwick 7

Fenwick fell behind early and couldn’t claw its way back in Attleborough. Lincoln Dugan connected with wideout Jesse Timson for a 60-yard touchdown on a trick play to cut Feehan’s lead to 14-7 in the second half, but that would be all for the Crusaders.

    St. John’s Prep 36
    Malden Catholic 6

Just two hours after The Prep’s Athletic Hall-of-Fame breakfast ceremony, the 6-0 football team rolled to a 30-point win against Malden Catholic at Glatz Field in Danvers. Freshman quarterback Chris Vargas (14-for-16, 145 yards, 3 TD) led the way alongside Merrick Barlow, who hauled in two touchdown passes.

    BOYS SOCCER

    St. Mary’s 1
    Concord-Carlisle 1

The Spartans (8-2-3) jumped in front with 5:29 remaining, courtesy of Mehdi Khemmich, but defending state champion Concord-Carlisle spoiled the party with a goal seven seconds later.

    GIRLS SOCCER

    Weston 4
    St. Mary’s 1

St. Mary’s faced a tough test on Saturday – in enemy territory, no less – and fell, 4-1. Brooke Moloney went home with the Spartans’ lone goal.

    FIELD HOCKEY

    Lynnfield 3
    Triton 1

The Pioneers received goals from Izzy Fiorentino and Taylor Valiton (2) to triple up Triton on home turf. Lauren Mattia, Gia Marotta, and Lily Alves dished out assists, while Lauren MacDonald held her own and made three saves. Lynnfield outshot and outcornered Triton with 15 shots and eight corners.

    CROSS COUNTRY

During Saturday’s Catholic Memorial Invitational at Franklin Park, Abby Lopez led Lynnfield with a first-place team finish of 23:00. Gabriella Bottaro and Caitlin Buoniconti followed with even times of 24:27:00.

As for Swampscott, Annabelle Averette and Atticus Jakious each took home first-place medals from their 3,000m freshmen races. Vera Conley also took home a medal, finishing 14th in the girls’ freshman 3K. Senior captain Collette Heil (23rd) medaled in the girls’ varsity 5K.

On the boys’ side, Simon Brown and Anthony Colella finished 15th and 19th, respectively, to medal in the varsity 5K.
