ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – Two men were charged with grand larceny after a crash involving an ATV that was reported stolen from an Iva property.

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office arrested 20-year-old Austin McMahan and 32-year-old Andrew Keaton for allegedly stealing $170,000 worth of stolen property.

An investigation was initiated on June 23 when McMahan reportedly drove a Chevrolet Silverado with a huge trailer in tow out of a resident’s front yard. Inside the trailer were side-by-sides and a four-seater according to deputies.

Deputies said a search for McMahan was already in progress after the suspect allegedly broke into a car and stole a cellphone.

McMahan met with Keaton at Greer Heights along Abbeville Highway and the two suspects then took the stolen property to Keaton’s family land in the area.

After crashing the vehicle into the creek, Keaton reported to authorities that he found the stolen property when he was ‘going shooting.’

Both individuals were apprehended and booked into the Anderson County Detention Center.

McMahan was also charged with second-degree burglary, malicious injury and two additional counts of grand larceny.
