Lavonia Kindness Effort Reaches Out to Farmers Market
The City of Lavonia continues its effort to demonstrate kindness throughout the year and for the month of June, they’ve chosen to support the town’s farmers market. On the Lavonia DDA Facebook page, Mayor Courtney Umbehant pointed out the Lavonia Farmer’s Market is the only one in a county known for its agriculture.
Anderson Hospital Foundation Raises $18,189.00 At Recent Golf Tournament
The 27th annual Anderson Hospital Foundation Golf Tournament was held on May 13th at the Sunset Hills Country Club in Edwardsville. The event featured eighteen holes of golf and included several contests, such as the Men’s and Women’s Longest Drive and Men’s and Women’s Closest to the Pin, Buy A Drive Contest, and a Putting Contest. “With Spring showers in the air, the weather held out for most of the day and the tournament ended up being a great success, with 134 golfers participating!” Said Lori St. John, Director of Development.

Unlawful Communication Charged Filed in Anderson
Christopher Edwin Campbell, 41, of Anderson, faces two counts of unlawful communication after allegedly making threatening remarks towards community activist Traci Fant during a Facebook live stream. Fant held a news conference addressing the situation and called for increased security measures. Campbell issued an apology, stating he is not a racist or a violent person and is cutting ties with social media and organizations. The investigation began on June 4, and Campbell was arrested on Wednesday following the release of the videos. Jail records show he is out on bond. The investigation is ongoing.

The family will hold a press conference today at 2625 Anderson Road to draw attention to Ware's disappearance more than two years ago. They will also discuss legislation being proposed that would require the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) to resume a missing persons investigation one year after the trail goes cold, at the family's request.
Clemson students win an astronaut scholarship
An experiment in a physics lab led a Clemson University student from the Anderson County town of Williamston to research in low-temperature physics. Maggie Marte now has gained national recognition as a 2024 Astronaut Scholar. It’s awarded to exceptional undergraduate students pursuing degrees in “STEM” — science, technology, engineering and math. Marte tested a sample’s electric resistance at very low temps. As her sample cooled, the resistance remained the same before suddenly dropping.
