Hartwell Celebrates Our Independence With Festival, Fireworks Saturday
The Hart County Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Hartwell Service League is inviting everyone to their Pre-4th Weekend festival and kids’ Patriotic Parade. According to organizers, over 200 arts and craft vendors from across the area will be on hand Saturday in downtown Hartwell – a record for the Pre-4th festival, now in it’s 47-year.

'No one is above the law': South Carolina jail employees accused of crimes against female inmates
Three South Carolina detention center officers were arrested Thursday and charged after crimes against female inmates, according to the State Law Enforcement Division. SLED officials said they charged Avery Richard Smith, 23, of Summerville, with criminal sexual conduct, two counts of misconduct in office, three counts of first-degree assault and battery, and five counts of third-degree assault and battery.
