Philly Rental Deposit Grant is Now Open

The PhillySEEDS matching grant application is now open only for PHA Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program participants

The Philly Seeds matching grant is now open only for housing choice voucher (HCV) holders. Here's what you need to know:

• You can only submit 1 application - assistance is only available once per applicant
• The matching security deposit grant is only for current PHA HCV voucher holders only
• The grant will match what the applicant pays up to $2,000 for security deposits
• Grants will be paid to landlords only (no tenant reimbursements)
• PhillySEEDS will respond and make decisions within 10 business days
• This grant is not available for EHV voucher holders
• Funds are limited

Applications Instructions

- The 2-page application must be filled out and sent to info@phillySEEDS.org with all the documentation in one email.

- Put your full name in the subject line example, "Sally Smith" Application

-Do not send multiple emails with the same information

Please allow at least 1 week before expecting a response from PhillySEEDS or sending additional emails asking about the status of your request. They say this helps expedite the process.

PHILLYSEEDS RESPONDS. Within ten (10) business days, PhillySEEDS will send the applicant (and the landlord, if that person’s email is provided by the applicant on the Application Form), either a letter of conditional funding (in an amount of $2,000 or less, equal to what the applicant will be paying towards the security deposit) or a denial letter. The letter of conditional funding is contingent on all the information submitted being valid and PhillySEEDS having funding (funding is year to year).

FINAL DOCUMENTS SUBMITTED BY APPLICANT. If a conditional funding letter is received, the applicant has seven (7) business days from the day it is emailed to then email to PhillySEEDS both: a) a signed lease with the landlord and b) evidence of payment of the same amount that PhillySEEDS will be providing (with PhillySEEDS not providing more than a match of $2,000).

PAYMENT MADE TO LANDLORD. Within ten (10) business days of PhillySEEDS receiving the signed lease and evidence of the amount of payment by the applicant that is to be matched by PhillySEEDS (up to $2,000), PhillySEEDS will issue a check in the amount requested to the landlord
