when you're overvalued by parents, the desire to not disappoint is very strong. This leads to learning to keep secret anything negative to the parents' image of you. So, I guess the article is technically correct. However, the effect it has on the child, to feel unable to fail or even struggle, is in and of itself - traumatic and the parents have certainly neglected to notice that outcome. so you can still file this under parental negligence.
