A Wallop of Flavors at Tongy’s Shmackhouse

When one thinks college town eats, they think fun, affordable, and tasty. For all that, some of the most memorable menu item names and descriptions, and a restaurant name one is sure to remember just as much, everyone knows to hit up Tongy’s Shmackhouse in Conway, South Carolina. 

Very basically, for those unfamiliar, the word shmack (at least according to Urban Dictionary) is essentially another word for ‘delicious,’ and that definitely rings true to describe this awesome dining institution.

Tongy’s specialties are handhelds of all kinds, from wraps to quesadillas, they have it all. A personal favorite sandwich is the Reg, Tongy’s take on a Buffalo chicken sandwich featuring crispy fried chicken fingers tossed in buffalo sauce with lettuce, tomato, bacon, blue cheese dressing, and jack cheese on a brioche bun. 

For fans of burgers, Tongy’s has a huge selection to choose from. A personal favorite burger is the Up & Adam, a breakfast style burger featuring lettuce, tomato, mushrooms, green peppers, red onions, bacon, jack cheese, and a fried egg for the ultimate hangover cure between two buns.

For fans of food challenges, Tongy’s has a beast of burger one, simply called: His Name Was Robert Paulson. Fans of Fight Club will know the reference instantly. Featuring three eight ounce patties, six strips of bacon, six slices of American cheese, and a full order of bacon cheese fries on the side, those brave enough have 30 minutes to eat the whole thing to win a free meal, limited edition t-shirt, and a spot on the Tongy’s Wall of Fame. 

Apps are always excellent at Tongy’s too, like the signature guacamole or El Duderino potato skins. Chicken wings are a personal favorite, and feature a variety of amazing sauces: medium, hot, BBQ, jalapeño brown sugar BBQ, honey mustard, teriyaki, terihot, sweet chili, Tongy sauce, buffalo garlic parm, mandarin sesame, Mila Kunis (xxtra hot), and garlic parm. No matter the flavor, diners are sure to love it here.
