The Best in BBQ Shine at Surfside Beach BBQ Festival

The Annual Surfside Beach BBQ Festival took place today, Saturday, May 4th, 2024, running from approximately ten in the morning to four in the afternoon at the corner of Surfside Drive and Yaupon Drive to a massive crowd full of excited BBQ fans and enthusiasts.

BBQ joints from all over the Myrtle Beach area were in attendance, gathered in a dedicated lot off Yaupon Drive, serving up everything BBQ from delicious smoked ribs to hearty brisket sandwiches with lines wrapping around each other every which way.

“My favorite place so far has been Smoking Down South BBQ,” said BBQ festival attendee and vacationing Pennsylvania resident Doug Ludemann. “Their rib plate was super, a whole lot of food for a great price, and the sauce was great too. My son got the piggy fries with BBQ sauce and cheese, he liked those a lot too.”

All along Surfside Drive, the road was occupied about a half mile up with incredible local vendors offering a variety of arts and crafts for the entire family, as well as stalls selling everyone’s favorite festival treats, including candy apples, funnel cakes, and ice cold lemonades to handle the impressive heat.

At the far end near Ocean Boulevard, live bands kept the rhythm throughout the day, with The Fabulous Fish Heads kicking things off right at ten in the morning, playing until one in the afternoon, when The Gary Lowder & Smokin’ Hot Band took things over until the close of the festival at four in the afternoon.
