The situation involving unaccompanied and smuggled children along the U.S. Border with Mexico has taken a more sinister turn - with some accusing the Biden Administration of helping cartels traffic kids there.

This month Mexican & Texas authorities were called upon to rescue a nine-year-old Honduran boy who was separated from his migrant mother and held for ransom across the border from El Paso at a Ciudad Juarez Cartel "Stash House."

He is reported to be in "good condition" and will be returned to Honduras.

Meanwhile, the Office of Inspector General (OIG) of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a report warning that U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) "cannot monitor all unaccompanied migrant children released from DHS and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS) Custody."

U.S. House of Representatives Homeland Security Committee Republicans charge that the Biden Administration "is simply enabling the cartels and human traffickers" and that "there are OVER 290,000 children illegally in the US who are unaccounted for."

"One federal whistleblower said that she believes many of these vulnerable kids could already be in the hands of criminals and sex traffickers." -DHS OIG Report

Meanwhile, the lives of children - with or without a parent- continue to be risked as they are brought across the border from Mexico into the U.S. each day:

U.S. Border Patrol Agents in the Texas Rio Grande Valley this month rescued a migrant mother and her young son abandoned by cartel human smugglers along the border near Rio Grande City after she dialed 911 based upon information on a sign the agency installed to help people in trouble report their exact location in remote locations.

And the number of children crossing the U.S. border from Mexico is increasing:

Since 2021, the New York Times reports that nearly 400,000 migrant children have crossed the southern U.S. border by themselves - many of them from Central America.

What should be done about all of the children crossing the U.S. Southern Border with Mexico?
