Reports from law enforcement officers along the U.S. Southern Border with Mexico in recent days contain many accounts of arrests of migrants with prior criminal histories. The Chief of the U.S. Border Patrol - for instance - reports that his agents arrested more than fifty migrants with criminal convictions over just one recent weekend.

Chief Jason Owens also reports that Border Patrol Agents in Yuma, Arizona - along with their Mexican Counterparts worked together to arrest a wanted migrant fugitive with a homicide warrant in San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico on September 3, 2024.

Days earlier - in El Paso - Border Patrol Agents and Texas State Lawmen arrested a Mexican citizen who authorities say is a convicted felon and a member of the Paisas prison gang.

On September 4, 2024, Texas State Troopers chased a man smuggling three migrants from Mexico and Ecuador through Kinney County only to find out the driver was a migrant who had been previously apprehended by the Border Patrol in January. The migrant "guide" and his passengers bailed out of their truck in an attempt to run from officers.

Officers found tools inside the truck that were used to cut the fences and locks off of gates on private ranches during this human smuggling attempt - so they tacked on a felony charge to the Guatemalan man's prior arrest history.

Texas now offers rewards for the apprehension of "most wanted" fugitive migrants with criminal histories. These are repeat offenders who have entered the country illegally and are wanted for being serious threats to public safety.

The state has gone so far as to compile a list of Texas’ 10 Most Wanted Criminal Migrants - and posted their information and photos on the internet - in the hope of getting them off the streets.
