Texas Border: Cocaine, Cash, Cold Cuts Seized

Several seizures of note have occurred along the Texas border with Mexico as September, 2024 comes to a close. On Saturday, Sept. 21, federal agents on the Brownsville and Matamoros International Bridge were suspicious of a 21-year-old Dallas woman returning to the United States - with good reason.

Three days earlier, CBP Officers on the Del Rio International Bridge discovered a hidden compartment within a truck crossing into Texas from Mexico. Inside they found 23 packages containing over 38 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of $516,896.

These mark the continuation of a series of large cocaine busts along the U.S. Southern Border this month. You can read more about that HERE.

Other seizures of note along the Texas border in recent days include five packages containing $79,392 in unreported currency hidden within a vehicle crossing the Hidalgo International Bridge on September 23, 2024. The cash is believed to be illegal profits being smuggled across the border to one of the Mexican cartels. Homeland Security investigators in San Antonio are attempting to determine the source of the funds.

Meanwhile, at the Port of Presidio, US. Customs inspectors opened up several suspicious suitcases to find that a driver was attempting to smuggle a large load of -- wait for it -- bologna into Texas earlier this month!

The luncheon meat load weighed almost 750 pounds. In addition to the captured cold cuts, customs inspectors also discovered the driver was also attempting to smuggle a large load of Mexican pharmaceuticals (242 boxes in all).

The meat & medicines were likely intended for resale in Texas.

I get the bologna. Mexicans aren't any different. They have brand loyalty to the products they've used forever too. That guy was stocking some Mexican markets. Let him conduct his legitimate business. It's not gonna end up in Walmart or Kroger. Lol
