The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) says more large groups of migrants continue to cross the Rio Grande from Mexico illegally. The most recent reported DPS encounter with a large group of migrants occurred on October 14, 2024, in Maverick County. The group contained families, and 23 unaccompanied children (16 boys & 7 girls).

The apprehensions of large groups of migrants who illegally crossed into South Texas have been occurring since late September. (You can read more about that HERE).

The Maverick County group also included 22 "Special Interest Immigrants" from Egypt & Turkey. "Special Interest Migrants " - according to the Department of Homeland Security - could "potentially pose a national security risk to the United States or its interests."

The discovery of these "Special Interest Migrants" continues a trend we first reported on October 4, 2024. (You can read more about that HERE).

In the hope of deterring other migrants from illegally crossing into Texas, DPS officers assigned to "Operation Lone Star" have been staging "shows of force" with marked patrol units along the border with Mexico.

The state border security effort is also funding the continued expansion of the "Border Wall" in South Texas.
