    Early voting in primaries begins next week

    Early voting in primaries begins next week Brian Smith Tue, 02/13/2024 - 8:24 pm Early voting for the March 5 primaries begins Tuesday, Feb. 20. All early voting will take place in the assembly room inside the Jack County Courthouse, 100 N. Main in Jacksboro. Early voting will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 20-23, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 26-March 1. Curbside voting is available for those that need it and can be done by calling 940-567-2910. On Election Day, Tuesday, March 5 voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the courthouse but also at the Jack County Fair Barn at 1072 State Highway 59 in Jacksboro; Perrin Church of Christ at 105 W. Eberhart St.; and the Bryson Senior Citizens Building at 201 S. College. Applications for ballots by mail must be received by Friday, Feb. 23. Running for Jack County Sheriff to replace incumbent Thomas Spurlock are T-Bob Hauger, RC Langford and Banning Sweatland. Incumbent Jack County Constable Clyde Watson is being challenged by Alvin Bilby and David Vander-Kaay. Running for Jack County Commissioner Precinct 1 is incumbent Gary Oliver, who is being challenged by Tim Ogle. No democrats filed to run for any local races. Incumbent District 68 State Representative David Spiller is being challenged by Kerri Kingsbery in the Republican primary. Democrat Stacey Swann is running unopposed for the seat. Running to fill Drew Springer’s seat as District 30 State Senator are Cody Clark, Carrie De Moor, Brent Hagenbuch, and Jace Yarbrough. The Democratic primary election for the state senate seat is a three-way race between Michael Braxton, Dale Frey, and Matthew McGhee. U.S. Congressman for District 25 Roger Williams has two challengers, with Matthew Lucci and Vince Crabb looking to unseat the incumbent. No democrats filed to run for the seat.
