    Tigerettes lose one, win four Brian Smith Wed, 02/21/2024 - 7:23 am The Tigerettes spent their opening week at home, with a loss in their first game of the season but a great performance later in the week in their annual tournament. Greyhounds 6, Tigerettes 5 The Tigerettes got out to a quick lead against Peaster in their season opener Tuesday, Feb. 12 but couldn’t take advantage of four Greyhound errors and suffered a 6-5 home field loss. The Tigerettes got out to a 1-0 first inning lead but the visitors came back with a pair of runs in their second at-bat. Peaster extended the lead to 5-1 in the fourth. Jacksboro cut the deficit in half with a two-run fifth. Peaster went up 6-3 in the seventh with the eventual game-winning run. Jacksboro scored twice in the bottom of the inning but fells short. Jacksboro outhit the ‘Hounds 9-8, led by senior Kylie Tullous’ three hits. Pitcher Shelby Seaberry aided her cause with two hits while Rylee Mathis, Brooke Reaves, Maddy Morgan and Lily Perez had one hit each. Seaberry gave up five earned runs on eight hits, walked four and struck out seven. Tigerette Classic TheTigerettesthen played six games in three days in the annual Tigerette Classic. The squad opened Thursday with wins over Wichita Falls 16-0 and Brock 7-2. Against the Class 5A Lady Coyotes, Seaberry fired a no-hitter with five strikeouts in three innings. Jacksboro scored 11 times in the first inning, keyed by back-to-back inside the park homers by Tullous and Emma Gray. Gray and Tullous each had two hits along with senior Lily Perez. Mathis, Morgan and Brailyn Tullous each had one hit. Gray’s three RBIs led the squad. The Purple went to 2-1 on the season in the nightcap with the five-inning win over Brock. Reaves got the win in the circle, scattering six hits while striking out three and walking one. Brock took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Jacksboro added pairs of runs in three straight innings for a 6-1 lead and added a single run in the fourth. An eight-hit Tigerette attack was paced by two hits each from Gray and both Tullouses. Morgan had a pair of RBIs with her hit. In Friday’s pair of games, Jacksboro used a four-run final at-bat to post an 8-7 win over Burkburnett. The Lady ‘Dogs got out to a 3-0 first inning lead. Jacksboro got one of the runs back in the bottom of the first, with Burk matching in the top of the second. Jacksboro struck for three runs in the bottom of the third to tie the game at four. Gray and Mathis had two hits each to lead Jacksboro. Both Tullous sisters had a hit as did Morgan. Gray scored three times and had an RBI. Mathis had four RBIs and scored twice for the Tigerettes. In the finale, Paradise got out to a 1-0 lead but Jacksboro scored in three of the final four frames to post an 8-3 win over the Panthers.
