    Candidates file for May ballot Brian Smith Tue, 02/27/2024 - 8:14 pm Both the city of Jacksboro and Jacksboro ISD will be able to cancel their elections as none of the races will be contested. Jacksboro City Secretary Shalyn Burritt said only the three incumbents, Place 1 Alderman Libby Gonzales, Place 3 Alderman Greg Robinson and Place 5 Alderman Stewart Chalmers, filed for positions on the ballot. Burritt said the election was expected to be canceled as part of the Monday, Feb. 26 meeting For JISD, Place 3 board member and Board President Martha Salmon and Place 4 member Mason Spiller were the only candidates to file for the positions, enabling the district to cancel its May election, The district is expected to take a board vote on cancellation at the Monday, March 18 meeting. Bryson ISD will have contested races. Six candidates are running for former Place 3 and Board President T-BobHauger’sspot. Hauger resigned from the board to run for the position of Jack County Sheriff. Running for the position are Shelby Leatherwood, Brandi Bennett, H. David Sloan, Robert C. Goodin, Jr., Zach Harden and Wayne Pinkston. Place 6 incumbent Sheila Birdwell is being opposed by Anthony David Herpeche. Place 7 incumbent and board Vice President Travis Thorne is running unopposed.
