    All-district basketball teams announced

    All-district basketball teams announced Brian Smith Wed, 03/13/2024 - 8:30 am All-District basketball teams were announced after the conclusion of the basketball season, with all three Jack County schools receiving nods. In District 7-3A, Jacksboro’s girls had four reach different teams, including sophomore Hayden Walker selected as Newcomer of the Year. Kylie Tullous was a first-team pick with Brailyn Tullous receiving a 2nd-team nod. Rylee Mathis was selected to the Honorable Mention squad. In District 21-A, the Perrin Pirates, who made it to the regional quarterfinals after a 2nd place finish in district, were led by Offensive Player of the Year Jack McCormick. Superlatives were given to Newcomer of the Year Cole Keeney and Sixth Man of the Year Evan Thompson. First team nods went to Case Lambert, Ryan Richerson and Hunter Walker, with Kolby Bucket getting an Honorable Mention selection. Academic All-District picks went to Keeney, Lambert, McCormick, Richerson and Emmanuel Quevedo. On the girls side, the Lady Pirates, who finished 3rd in District 21-A, were led by first team Erika Hernandez. Kennadee Langham and Lauren Morris received 2nd-team picks. Freshman Callie Weddle was named Sixth Man of the Year. Honorable Mention awards were given to Jessa Angelly, Kannan Collier and Lucchese Reilly. Named to the Academic All-District team were Jessa Angelly, Mackenzie Green, Baylee Meadows, Reilly and Shiloh Wilson. For the Bryson Cowgirls, Jaydah McComack was a 2nd-team selection. Braydee Thorne, Brooke Bennett, and Eleanor Neudorf were all named Honorable Mention for the Cowgirls. Named Academic All-District were Thorne, Bennett, Neudorf, Mollie Howard, Jaylee Herpeche, Macy Hawkins, Kassidie Newton, Alyssa Navarez, and Abby Zielinski. For the Cowboys, who finished 4th in District 21-A, Evan Ford was a first-team selection. Sophomore Caleb Allen was named to the 2nd-team with Tyler Cotter and Jameson Pierce both getting Honorable Mention nods. Named Academic All-District were Ben Bennett, Jacob Hearne, Ford, Cotter, Pierce, Allen, Gavin Sadler, and Keston Menchaca.
