No. 12 Jacksboro came into No. 8 Holliday with ideas on putting a stamp in District 7-3A. The Tigerettes took control early offensively, stroking out 18 hits and picked up a solid pitching performance from Shelby Seaberry in a 15-2 win Tuesday, March 5. Jacksboro is 2-0 in league play (16-3 overall) with Holliday slipping to 1-1 and 12-5. Tigerette coach John Bennett said hitting the ball all through the lineup was crucial to the win. “We just absolutely smashed the ball at the plate today 1-9,” Bennett said. The 18 hits came in the final six innings after the visitors were set down in order in the first. Seaberry was a force offensively, going 3-4 at the plate with a walk and three RBIs, and in the pitching circle. “( She) locat ing pitches and keeping them off balance was key as well,” Bennett said. “She gave up one earned run on five hits vs. a very good hitting team.” Seaberry opened a two-run first with a leadoff infield single. Courtesy runner Holly Lehman moved to third on a Brailyn Tullous single, the pair scoring on Maddy Morgan’s single. A lineout to second ended the frame. Freshman Rylee Bennett one-hopped the wall with a leadoff double in the third. She came home as Kylie Tullous beat out an infield single. The senior speed step stole second and came home on Seaberry’s second hit of the game to extend the lead to 4-0. Another leadoff hit, this one a Brailyn Tullous fourth inning double into the left centerfield gap, became a run on Lily Perez’s one out single. Bennett reached on an error with an Emma Gray sacrifice fly scoring Perez for a 6-0 lead. Holliday loaded the sacks in the fourth on a single, an error and a fielder’s choice play but a flout to right ended the threat. Seaberry’s one-out walk in the fifth became a run on singles by Brooke Reaves and Brailyn Tullous for a 7-0 lead. A walk to Perez filled the pond before a strikeout prevented further damage. Holliday picked up three of its five hits in the fifth to cut the lead to 7-2. Jacksboro saved the best for last with a three-run sixth and fiverun seventh inning.
