    Tullous, Valenzuela win key track meet

    Tullous, Valenzuela win key track meet Brian Smith Wed, 03/27/2024 - 8:50 am Jacksboro’s track teams compe t ed Wednesday, March 20 in the Glen Eickman Relays at City View. The varsity girls were led by first-place finishes from Landrie Valenzuela in the discus (116’4”) and shot put (38’9”) and Kylie Tullous in the triple jump with a 33’6” leap, the pole vault with an 8’6” try and long jump with a 16’9.75” effort. Laken Valenzuela also took first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.22. Second-place finishes were recorded by Brooke Reaves in the shot put with a 35’3” throw and Brailyn Tullous in the 300-meter hurdles with a 49.73 time. The 1,600-meter relay foursome of Laken Valenzuela, Brailyn Tullous, Holly Lehman and Hayden Walker were third in 4:29.26. In fourth place was Judit Herrera in the 3,200-meters with a time of 13:28.94 and 1,600-meters in 6:04.93. In fifth place was Walker in the high jump in 4’10”, with sixth place going to Walker in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:04.16 along with Reaves in the discus after an 86’3” throw. The varsity boys were led by Eric Pizana’s win in the 300-meter hurdles in 40.94 and Cannon Valenzuela’s win in the high jump with a 6’2” effort. Pizana and Valenzuela combined with Luke Sams and Juan Marin for a 2nd-place finish in the 1,600-meter relay in 3:40.79. Sams was third in the triple jump in 39’8 1/2” as was Gannon McElroy in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 19.26. Marin was fourth in the 200-meters with a time of 24.40 as was Marcus Olivarez in the shot put with a 39’7” throw. McElroy was fifth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 48.09, with Brayden Rockey sixth with a time of 2:21.69 in the 800-meter run.
