    Tigers fall in Iowa Park Brian Smith Tue, 04/02/2024 - 2:15 pm In a battle for first placeindistrict,Jacksboro headed into Iowa Park ready to keep its perfect record intact. The Hawks had other ideas. After the Tigers had taken a 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth, Iowa Park tied the game in the bottom of the inning and later added a three-run sixth to post a 6-3 win Thursday, March 28 over Jacksboro. Both teams are 4-1 in the district. The Tigers were held to just three hits in the game but managed to get a first inning run without a hit, using an error and a walk to take a 1-0 lead. Iowa Park got the run back in the bottom of the inning the traditional way with a pair of base hits. The Hawks added another run in the second using a hit and an error on a potential double play ball. In the Tiger fifth, Jaxon Ward drew a walk, moved to second on Brayden Rockey’s sacrifice and third on a balk. Ward came home on Kaleem Howard’s triple to center. Fellow senior Lando Belcher brought home Howard with a single to center to give the Tigers a 3-2 lead. Belcher stole second but a double play ball snuffed out the threat. The Hawks tied the game at three in the fifth and had three runs in the sixth.
