Photo/Brian Smith Jacksboro’s varsity softballers continued their trek through District 7-3A play with a 14-1, five inning win Thursday, April 11 over Vernon. The Tigerettes, who are 11-0 in the loop, clinched an outright district championship with the victory. Holliday sits in 2nd place at 10-2, both losses to the Tigerettes. A six-run first inning enabled the Purple to take control early. Vernon scored its lone runin the bottom of the inning. Three-run fourth and fifth innings, aided by a 14-hit attack, enabled the visitors to end things early on 10run mercy rule. Maddy Morgan and Lily Perez led the offensive charge with three hits each, Emma Gray, Shelby Seaberry each had two hits with Kylie Tullous, Rylee Mathis, Brailyn Tullous and Charlie Phariss having one hit each, Phariss having a three-run homer. Morgan and Phariss each had three RBIs for Jacksboro. Seaberry and Perez batted in two runs each. Seaberry picked up the win in the circle, allowing three hits and striking out four. In its final road game of the regular season, the Tigerettes posted an 8-4 victory Friday, April 12 in Henrietta. Jacksboro scored a single run in the second, two more in the third and four more in the fourth inning to go up 7-0. The Lady ‘ Cats scored two in the fifth inning and one each in the final two frames but it wouldn’t be enough. Jacksboro continued a strong hitting season with 10 hits with Seaberry, Brailyn Tullous and Rylee Bennett coming through with two hits each for the Purple, Bennett had a homerun. Gray had another homer. Brooke Reaves got the win in the circle, throwing 6 2/3 innings and allowing eight hits but striking out eight as well.
