Parks and Rec updates community on operations Brian Smith Wed, 04/24/2024 - 7:23 am   Will Mangum with Parks and Recreation gives an update on operations to Jacksboro Lions Club members during their Wednesday, April 10 meeting. Photo/Brian Smith Jacksboro Parks and Recreation Director Will Mangum recently gave Lions Club members an update on how the department is functioning and working on various community issues. Mangum said in the April 10 meeting with Lions Club members the Twin Lakes Activity Center was used by homebuilders earlier this year to build five homes for tornado victims. They were expected to be done in April but got finished in February. The center had its restrooms updated and inside repainted as well as new lighting, Mangum noted. The painting was redone due to a prior remodeling with Mangum saying the building looks better with the fresh paint. The center has also gotten new weight equipment and flooring in the weight room which has been expanded into two rooms. The former classroom is now being used as a cardiac spin room with the weight room remaining intact, Mangum explained. With summer rapidly approaching, Mangum said the city pool, located at Sewell Park, will be expanding its services. Pool parties will be offered five days a week beginning Saturday, June 1. Reservations are being taken now by calling City Hall at 940-5675468. Parties at the pool will take place Tuesday- Thursday as well as Saturday and Sunday from 6-9 p.m. Fridays will be Family Fun Nights from 6-9 p.m. Parties have a maximum occupancy of 200 people, Mangum said, whether they are in the pool or not. “If they’re inside the gates, they’re in,” Mangum explained. Regular pool hours are noon to 5 p.m. Lifeguards are still needed for the upcoming summer. Anyone interested in a summer job at the pool is urged to contact Mangum at 940-567-5468. The club will meet again Wednesday, April 24.
