Kasey Ray Swan (Howard Payne University), Lando Belcher (Cisco College), and Jackson McComis (Austin College) have all had stellar careers with JHS and have been integral part of the athletic department and the school in the eyes of athletic director and head football coach Casey Hubble. “They have had an influence not only to the athletic program but to Jacksboro High School and the community as well,” Hubble said. “These guys have been a big part of the success of the baseball and athletic program.” JHS baseball coach Blake Belcher knows a few things about the 27594 trio, having coached them starting in youth baseball and moving up the ranks. “It’s not going to be the same going to practice and them not being there,” Belcher said. “I’m more proud than I can ever say of these guys.” Swan, who will major in business management at HPU, said after meeting with the Yellow Jacket coaches he knew he had found a new home. “I felt I would fit in pretty good there,” Swan said. “It’s a smaller school that made me feel like Jacksboro.” McComis, who plans to major in engineering or pre-med, said he looked at Howard Payne, as well, along with Cisco and Northwest Oklahoma State but he said Austin College felt best to him. “The coaches there were all straight up dudes,” McComis said. “There was no sugar coating of anything, which I really liked.” Lando Belcher, who is unsure of his major yet, liked the idea of starting off small and potentially moving up to bigger and better things. “I wanted to see what I could do there and play and maybe move on to play at a bigger school,” Belcher said. “They are known for doing that at Cisco College.” Not only did the three play baseball for the Tigers but also football as well for the Tigers. All three were also All-District 7-3A selections for the Tigers in both sports.
