Jacksboro Elementary School teachers Alex Spiller, Kathleen Rae and Denisa Moye, Jacksboro Middle School teachers Caroline Vaughn and Brandon Carpenter, and Jacksboro High School teachers Jennifer Conner, Christi Rater and Donny Gray, were all honored. JISD Superintendent Brad Burnett explained how the program got started. In April 2021, the district submitted its application to the Texas Education Agency to take part in the program and it was accept- ed in June 2021. The district collects data based on student growth from the beginning to the end of the year over a two-year cycle based on STAAR testing. Because of the March 2022 tornado, no names were submitted for consideration. Based on beginning of year scores, growth goals are established for each student. Two observations are scored with the teachers in the classroom based on instruction and learning environment. A formal 45-minute observation is also part of the scoring process. When evaluating the student growth measure and the observations, teachers are either recognized, exemplary or master. All three teachers at JES and JHS along with JMS teacher Vaughn were named exemplary teachers. Carpenter was selected as a master teacher. Each teacher received a plaque and a check from the TEA for their efforts.
