    Summer hoop loses opener News Staff Tue, 06/11/2024 - 7:20 pm In a slow offensive game, Jacksboro and Poolville shook off the cobwebs somewhat in the second half of their Poolville Summer Basketball League opener.Af ter Jacksboro took a 7-6 lead at halftime, the Monarchs used a 9-0 run early in the second half to take control and eventually post a 26-21 win over the Tigers.Jarrid English got inside for a nice drive and layup for the visitors to go up 2-0. Poolville wasn’t able to convert a basket but used free throws to knot the game at 3-3 Jacksboro continued to pound the offensive glass hard with Brayden Rockey and Grady Brown coming through with rebounds to set up a Wyatt Gavit basket and free throws to put the Tigers up 7-3.The Monarchs’ first basket, a three-pointer, came with 15 seconds left in the half to cut the lead to 7-6.Rockey’s free throw gave the Tigers their last lead at 8-6 early in the 20-minute running clock second half.Over the next five minutes, Poolville caught fire and led 15-8 when all was said and done.Jacksboro held tough, however, using Eli Jonas free throws and an Isaac Wesson basket to draw within 17-13.The Tigers return to action at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 13.
