JMS principal to attend summer institute Brian Smith Tue, 06/11/2024 - 7:13 pm Jackie H amilton Jacksboro Middl e School Principal Jackie Hamilton has been selected by the Charles Butt Foundation to attend a weeklong summer institute at The Principals’ Center at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Hamilton is one of 30 principals from traditional and charter school districts across Texas selected to attend the institute from July 13-19. Hamilton said she wants to learn more from principals around the country. “I hope to gain a wider perspective to manage changes our district needs to encompass the emerging challenges we face,” Hamilton said. “I will be learning from Harvard leaders and collaborating with principals from all over the globe and gaining ideas to improve our district.” Hamilton said she learned about the opportunity a few years ago and wanted to apply and be considered. “I am very excited to represent our district at Harvard,” Hamilton said. With this new cohort, the foundation will have supportedmorethan1,600 educators to attend training at Harvard through the Raising School Leaders program, an initiative designed to develop stronger school leaders who will enhance the quality of education across Texas. For this year’s Raising School Leaders cohort, preference was given to school leaders from districts that are considered rural or had a student enrollment of less than 5,500. Following the Harvard institute, attendees remain a part of the program’s statewide network of leaders, work together to create change at campus and district levels and receive continuous support and professional development. “Jacksboro ISD is extremely proud of Mrs. Hamilton and her dedication to ongoing professional development,” Superintendent Brad Burnett said. “We are confident that Mrs. Hamilton’s participation in the Harvard institute will further enrich our school community, bringing new insights and strategies that will benefit all of our students and staff.”
