Photo/Brian Smith Lions Club International’s motto is “We Serve.” Jacksboro Lions Club members did in the form of fish plates at the annual fish fry, the club’s biggest fundraiser of the year, Thursday, June 6 at the Jack County Courthouse.Under organizer Tim Cassle and head fish cooker Travis Jonas and his team, things came off without a hitch.Full plates of fish, cole slaw, beans, hush puppies, and all the trimmings were served.An estimated 250 plates were served but a final number was still being determined, Cassle said.Many picked up their fish to go with several taking advantage of the curbside option.Others decided to eat their meal under the canopy of trees on the east side of the courthouse.“I heard the fish here was great, so I came up here from Mineral Wells with my family,” visitor Stella Grace Minshew said.The usual camaraderie of Lions Club members was seen, everyone pitching in and doing double duty at times when someone needed a break in the heat.Proceeds from the fish fry go toward Lions Club projects, such as aiding with the purchase of eye exams and overall eye health, scholarship monies, and more.
