Jacksboro ISD Superintendent Brad Burnett gave a construction update as part of the Monday, June 10 regular meeting.Recent rains have set the excavation and dirt moving for the buildings back a bit, Burnett said.Driveway and _re lane construction at the high school is ongoing to aid with student drop-off once school starts.Excavation is ongoing at the seventh through eighth grade campus along with the new Career and Technology Education building.Burnett said work is also ongoing at Jacksboro Elementary School where construction of a new bathroom is underway.Plumbing is being preliminarily placed right now with workers trying to get ahead of schedule.Burnett said construction on the bathroom is expected to be _nished by Thursday, Aug. 1 before teachers come back to class. The _rst day of school is Wednesday, Aug. 21.Burnett said construction at the high school gym is nearly complete with work on the gym foyer and restrooms being completed.Summer strength and conditioning is going in the newly _nished main gym, which is better lit and ready for volleyball season, Burnett said.Possible lighting retrofit Board members heard a presentation from E3 Energy Solutions. Business Development Manager Steve Monkres with E3 gave a presentation about the Lone Star Loan program offered through the state. The program provides loans to school districts willing to retrofit their lighting. The savings allow the new lighting to pay for itself over time, Monkres said. The interest rate is a fixed 2.5% for up to 15 years, Monkres said. The state, using square footage of the area to be retrofitted, verifies the savings using an independent engineering firm. The cost for Jacksboro would be $1,074,000. With a payment of $110,256 per year, the project would be paid off in less than 10 years.Monkres said the program is only good for established schools like JES and Jacksboro Middle School and wouldn’t apply to the new bond construction.Burnett said he would consult with the district’s financial advisor to discuss the program.
