    JEDC starts new savings program Brian Smith Tue, 07/02/2024 - 2:06 pm Jacksboro’s Economic Development Corporation is hoping to boost area businesses and save customers money this summer.The JEDC Board of Directors has established an app-based program called Open Rewards, which runs from July 1-Aug. 31 intended to encourage and reward shoppers for visiting and shopping local businesses.EDC Executive Director Brenda Tarpley said the Open Rewards program will offer shoppers 15% back on their purchases, up to $150 per transaction and a maximum reward of $500 per customer during the duration of the program.“We’re asking all businesses to spread the word and get everyone involved,” Tarpley said.Customers are not required to live in Jacksboro to take part in the program, Tarpley said.Tarpley said the 15% can be redeemed for another local purchase and does not have to be used at the same business it was received from.Participating in Open Rewards is free for everyone and local small businesses in the personal service, restaurant and retail sectors are automatically enrolled. Only the Jacksboro locations of businesses that have multiple locations are eligible.She said the program is intended to coincide with the Jacksboro Chamber of Commerce’s shop local campaigns being implemented this summer. Customers download the Open Reward app, set up a connection between it and their credit card or preferred cash app, shop, scan receipts and earn rewards.Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Keely Payne said the chamber will be hosting three Famous for Serving dinners this summer to aid in the Open Rewards program: Thursday, July 11 at the Green Frog, Thursday, July 18 at Casa Grande, and Thursday, July 25 at JRs Chophouse.Customers are not required to live in Jacksboro to take part in the program, Tarpley said.The program aims to promote shopping in Jacksboro by rewarding purchasers for their purchases and encouraging repeat customers.Tarpley told city council members at the Monday, June 24 meeting attempts to contact eligible businesses were made and to ensure contact information was correct.Any business that believes it meets the requirements and wants to participate can contact Tarpley at the JEDC office at 940-567-3151.The first 50 people to sign up for the app will receive an instant $10 reward.
