    Guerra, Robinson, Stanush Top Girls 25-3A All-District Team

    Three Jackson County players captured superlative honors in the girls District 25-3A All-District Teams for the 2023-24 season.

    Edna junior guard Shanti Guerra was voted the district’s Co-Most Valuable Player, while senior teammate Kashiya Robinson was chosen Offensive MVP.

    Industrial’s Karli Stanush earned Freshman of the Year honors after averaging 8 points per game with 12 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocks/deflections.

    Edna finished co-district champs with Hallettsville in 25-3A at 13-1, but lost a playoff seeding game to the Lady Brahmas and was seeded as the district runnerup. The Cowgirls (28-8) lost to Lytle 66-65 in the Class 3A Region 4 Area playoffs.

    Industrial finished 9-20 overall and 4-10 in district.

    Co-Most Valuable Player: Shanti Guerra, junior, Edna (19.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.5 steals)

    Offensive MVP: Kashiya Robinson, senior, Edna (10.0 points, 9.6 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 3.1 steals)

    Freshman of the Year: Karli Stanush, Industrial (8 points, 3 assists, 12 rebounds, 3 blocks/deflections)

    First Team: Edna : Isabella Plotini (7.1 points, 3.6 assists, 3.0 steals) and Keira Santellana, (8.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.2 steals) Industrial : Deziree Evans (8 points, 2 assists, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks/deflections)

    Second Team: Edna : Emilie Spree, senior; Industrial : Cecilia Jalufka (8 points, 3 steals, 7 rebounds, 42

    percent shooting)

    Honorable Mention: Edna : Brandy Callis, senior; Industrial : Madison Riddle and Kimber Linke

    Academic All-District: Edna : Callis, Audree Chiles, Karsyn Damborsky, Molly Garretson, Guerra,

    Plotini, Zoe Rojas, Santellana, Spree, Kelis Turner and Te’Arin Turner; Industrial : Deziree Evans,

    Jalufka, Kailyn Karl, Madison Kubecka, Kimber Linke, Lacey Linke, Dominik Montemayor, Riddle

    and Stanush

    In addition, four Edna Cowgirls also were named to the Texas High School Coaches Association Academic All-State Team.

    Spree made second team Academic All-State, while Callis, Chiles, and Damborsky all received honorable mention.
