Weaver Sentenced for Attempted First-degree Murder
MURPHYSBORO – A Murphysboro man was sentenced Thursday to 31 years in prison for Attempted First-degree Murder. According to the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s office, 37-year-old Edward T. Weaver was found guilty of multiple counts including Attempted First-degree Murder, Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm following a four-day trial in Jackson County last September.
Woman Injured in Thursday Crash on Illinois 4 in Rural Ava
AVA – A Steeleville woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash Thursday in Jackson County. According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and first responders from the Ava and Campbell Hill fire departments responded to the scene at the intersection of Illinois 4 and Inman Road in rural Ava around 9:40 a.m.

MURPHYSBORO, Ill. (KFVS) - A Murphysboro man was sentenced to over 30 years in prison for attempted first-degree murder that took place in 2020. According to Joseph A. Cervantez, Jackson County State’s Attorney, 37-year-old Edward T. Weaver of Murphysboro was sentenced to 31 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for attempted first-degree murder.
