June unemployment rates up for local counties
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) announced Monday that the June unemployment rates increased for south-central Indiana counties compared to May. For Bartholomew County, the June rate was 3.9%, up from May’s 3.4%. The county reported 42,222 employed residents out of a 43,914-person labor force.

Library’s discovery bus program updates
During the Jackson County Public Library board of trustees meeting Monday at the Seymour Library, there were some updates about their Discovery Bus programs. The library offers outreach services where they are able to travel to bring literature to people of all ages, from children to senior citizens. For their summer learning program, the number of participants has surpassed the numbers in 2023 with two weeks still remaining of the program for people to join.
