I feel so lucky! I lost my home in the Almeda fire. My insurance company was more than fair with me and then did not cancel or even raise my rates post fire. I of course, chose to make my property as fire resistant as possible and invested in a number of water tanks for fire suppression. I adjusted my landscaping to include a paver stone buffer around the entirety of my home. I miss living in the wild fields, shrubs and trees that crowded around my country home but it’s not reasonable to not make drastic changes in our homescapes

Key word is "worked" in the insurance business. I'm sure it is not the same anymore since you left. I've got family in rural Northern California who have had their insurance canceled for similar reasons, and they can't get ANY company to insure them. Insurance companies are in collusion on this one!
