CENTRAL POINT, Ore.- Friday is Day Four of the Jackson County Fair at The Expo, and folks might have seen some of the NBC5 News Team enjoying the carnival. “NBC5 at the expo!” NBC5’s Lauren Pretto, Maximus Osburn, Emily Storm, Taylor Owen, Junie Christopherson and Annie Giardinelli shouted.

With hot days all week, visitors to the Jackson County Fair at The Expo in Central Point have been treated to comfortably warm temperatures at night. The fair saw 2,300 visitors Thursday, plus 5,200 people came to see Josh Turner in concert Thursday night. Total attendance for the fair, which started Tuesday, is more than 17,500, according to organizers. The fair continues through Sunday night. The fair runs until midnight Friday, 11 a.m. to midnight Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. To purchase advance admission and concert tickets, visit tickets.attheexpo.com/tickets.

All evacuation orders canceled for Salt Creek Fire
Updated at 1:15 p.m. on July 19: All evacuation levels have been canceled for the Salt Creek Fire, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office announced. "All evacuation levels are canceled for the Salt Creek Fire east of Eagle Point, Ore," the Jackson County Sheriff's Office wrote. "Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is canceling the evacuation levels due to successful firefighting efforts over the last few days."
Kotek names Christine Herbert, Matthew Rowan to Jackson Co. Circuit Court
JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. – Oregon Governor Tina Kotek has appointed two new judges to the Jackson County Circuit Court. According to a press release from the governor’s office Thursday, Christine Herbert is set to fill the vacancy left by Judge Timothy Gerking in position 5. Her appointment came following Gerking’s retirement.
Eastside Road, Jacksonville – West of Ashland Watershed 7/21
The Eastside Road Fire, located along Upper Applegate Road and west of Buncom in Jackson County. The fire is currently estimated to be 1.5 acres, and forward progression has been stopped. Early this morning, firefighters were able to build a line around 70% of the fire. A 20-person crew is en route, as well as aircraft. This work will continue this morning and then mop-up will begin.
