ODF: Salt Creek Fire 73% contained, crews respond to lightning-caused fires
EAGLE POINT, Ore. – The Salt Creek Fire continues to gain containment as firefighters push forward on mopping up; it’s now 100% lined and 73% contained. Due to this progress, Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) Incident Management Team 1 is beginning the process of transitioning the fire back to the local districts to continue working on the incident. During this time, resources will begin to demobilize, allowing some of those personnel and equipment to be reassigned to other fires burning across the region.

Medford woman gets time served for boyfriend's 2021 homicide
A Medford woman was sentenced to probation and time spent in the Jackson County Jail for the 2021 shooting death of her intimate partner during a fight in her garage. Natalie Rogers, 32, pleaded no contest Monday to a charge of criminally negligent homicide for killing her partner of four months, 34-year-old Barton Joseph Gonzalez, during an argument the night of Nov. 4, 2021, at her home in the 2000 block of Smokethorn Way, according to a news release issued by Jackson County Chief Deputy District Attorney Patrick Green.
