JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. -- As the Salt Creek Fire is active and growing in central Jackson County, so is the effort to fight it. The Salt Creek Fire has about a thousand firefighters working on it, listed as burning more than 3,300 acres north of Highway 140 about ten miles east of Eagle Point. They are under the command of an incident management team that took control of the firefighting response since the fire started Sunday.

Updated at 8:30 a.m. on July 17: The fire is 100% lined at 4,102 acres and is 84% contained, ODF said in a news release this morning. Air quality advisory issued for Jackson County due to wildfire smoke
JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. —The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality issued an air quality advisory Tuesday for Jackson County. It’s due to smoke from the Salt Creek Fire. The DEQ also expects intermittent smoke in the Klamath Falls area that may bring poor air quality in the afternoon and evening hours until at least Thursday evening.
