Salt Creek Fire 2% contained; new 'Level 1 - Be Ready' evacuation zones added
EAGLE POINT, Ore. — Firefighters are continuing to make progress on the Salt Creek Fire, but fire activity has started to increase as the afternoon is heating up, fire officials reported after 3 p.m. Tuesday. Hot temperatures into the triple digits and windy conditions are causing minimal growth on small portions of the southwest, southeast and northeastern edges.

Reckless driving, driving under the influence of intoxicants — James Tehl Aitken, 39, of the 38000 block of Dodge Road, White City. Jackson County sheriff’s deputies arrested Aitken Monday on charges of reckless driving, driving under the influence of intoxicants and driving with a suspended or revoked license. Aitken was lodged in the Jackson County Jail and released on his own recognizance.
