New Wyoming unemployment numbers are out
Last week, Wyoming Department of Workforce Services released new employment numbers for the state. According to the report, the Wyoming unemployment rate decreased from 3.8% in February to 3.7% in March. The employment rate seasonally adjusts to account for tourism jobs. However, Wyoming’s current unemployment rate is still higher than it was in March of 2022. It’s also slightly higher than the current US unemployment rate of 3.5%.

The ArtSpot project by JH Public Art seeking submissions

This project invites artists to create fun and unique installations that will inspire joy and wonder in the more than 30,000 daily drivers that pass by along Broadway in the Town of Jackson. Nine students from Central Wyoming College (CWC) have received a total of $16,386 through the federal Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant. This grant allows CWC students to pursue their dreams in education, and CWC graduates will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the community. The college offers degrees in early childhood, elementary, and secondary education, including a new Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Early Childhood Education.

Wyoming Energy Authority has new leadership
The Wyoming Energy Authority Board has appointed Rob Creager as the new Executive Director. Creager, a Wyoming native, was previously the Senior Policy Advisor to Governor Mark Gordon, where he led multiple efforts, including the implementation of multiple pieces of federal legislation and the creation of Wyoming’s broadband buildout. Creager will bring an understanding of the energy sector’s critical impact on Wyoming’s jobs and revenues to the role, in addition to strong relationships within Wyoming and on a national level.
Sage Grouse Working Group to meet
The Upper Green River Basin Sage Grouse Working Group will meet on Monday, May 15, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Wyoming Game & Fish Department office in Pinedale. They will talk about how to use their money for projects to help protect sage grouse and other species that live in the sagebrush habitat.
