Town Puts Commercial Moratorium in Place
Jackson Town Council Implements Temporary Moratorium on Large Commercial Buildings. At its regular meeting yesterday evening, Jackson’s Town Council unanimously voted to place an emergency, temporary moratorium on the development of commercial buildings larger than 35,000 square feet. The ordinance states, “A moratorium is imposed on the submission and acceptance of applications to create, add, or change the use of the habitable floor area for non-residential buildings.” This moratorium applies to potential commercial buildings in the Downtown Core and Commercial Residential Zones. It does not affect development applications already under review, vested under current Land Development Regulations (LDRs), or those with existing zoning or building permit approval.
Turkey Hunter Attacked by Moose Near Blackfoot, Idaho
In a close encounter late on Friday afternoon, a turkey hunter was attacked by a female moose on Bureau of Land Management territory close to the Snake River, just south of Blackfoot, Idaho. Grizzlies Injure Massachusetts Man In Grand Teton National Park
A visitor from Massachusetts was seriously injured by a bear on Sunday afternoon at Grand Teton National Park. The 35-year-old male was hiking near Signal Mountain Summit Road when he encountered two grizzly bears, resulting in the injury. Emergency responders, including park rangers and Teton County Search and Rescue, provided immediate medical care. The injured man was airlifted to St. John’s Hospital where he is reported to be in stable condition and expected to recover fully.
Dunraven Pass in Yellowstone Opens Early

Firewood Permits Available for Bridger-Teton National Forest
Starting tomorrow, May 15, personal use firewood permits will be available for purchase on the Bridger-Teton National Forest. The cost is $7.00 per cord, with a minimum purchase requirement of five cords for $35.00. Each household can buy up to ten cords of firewood in total. This means that an individual can initially purchase a permit for five cords and then, after cutting and hauling that wood, purchase another permit for an additional five cords to reach the household limit.
