Jackson State athletic director Ashley Robinson announced the return of Hakim McClellan as deputy athletic director on Monday.

McClellan spent two years as athletic director at Mississippi Valley State.

This is McClellan’s second stint at Jackson State; he joined the athletic department in July 2018 and was promoted to associate athletic director for compliance.

At Mississippi Valley State, McClellan presided over the addition of a new video board at Rice-Totten Stadium and a new field turf project. He oversaw upgrades to the athletic facilities, including the tennis courts, track, softball deck and weight room, and installed new computers in the athletic academic lab. He also commissioned a new logo for the department in June 2024.
