Ward 7 Councilwoman Virgi Lindsay will take the reins as the new council president for the next year.

Lindsay, who was nominated by Ward 2 Councilwoman Angelique Lee, replaces Ward 6 Councilman Aaron Banks.

Ward 4 Councilman Brian Grizzell was nominated for vice president, also by Lee, and replaces the Ward 2 councilwoman in the position.

Lindsay and Grizzell both secured the positions in a 4-2 vote.

"I am honored to have this opportunity for a third time," Lindsay said when she took over the meeting, while also thanking Banks and Lee for their time serving as president and vice president.

Lindsay was first elected to represent Ward 7 in 2017. Since then, she has served as council president three times.

The president presides over calls to order and leads all council meetings. If the president is not in attendance, then the vice president takes over.
