USA TODAY named its Bars of the Year. This Jackson favorite made the list

The Apothecary at Brent's Drugs in Jackson , made USA TODAY’s list of best bars in the country.

The USA TODAY Bars of the Year 2024 list , released today, features 27 bars from dives to high-end cocktail bars.

"We are very honored to be a part of this list. It's incredible," said Jonathan Shull, co-founder and co-owner.

"Brad was already the owner of Brent's Drugs and he showed me the back storeroom one day where they used to store all of the drugs for the pharmacy, and we were like hey; we can put a cocktail bar back here, so it began a long process of research and study of classic cocktails as well as the soda fountain," Shull said.

The Apothecary at Brent's Drugs was chosen because of its unique bar area that is located directly in front of a massive pharmacy cabinet with interior design from the drinks program, that was inspired by the soda fountain. Their classic cocktails are made with special recipes that have been around since the 1900's such as the Old Fashioned and the Sazerac.
