Center pivot irrigation has increased irrigation water use efficiency and reduced labor costs. It has also allowed agricultural development on marginal land with varying soil types and topography. Irrigated acres in Nebraska have increased from 3,998,000 acres (1960) to 9,378,462 acres (2022).

Not only is it not exiting, but the heat intensifies by the middle of next week with a couple days potentially climbing into the triple digits. Very little change in the forecast Saturday with temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s in central and eastern Nebraska. Mid to upper 90s in western Nebraska are likely once again as well.

Second suspect arrested in 2023 murder of Dakota Dunes woman
SOUTH SIOUX CITY, NE (KELO.com) — Police have arrested a second suspect in a Dakota Dunes murder that happened just over a year ago. Reyna Castellanos was arrested Thursday and charged with being an accessory to murder. Police believe she lied about her husband’s involvement in the killing of Jordan Beardshear, and helped him escape to Mexico. Alfredo Castellanos-Rosales was arrested last year and is in jail awaiting trial. Castellanos-Rosales and the victim had a child together.
Deputies accuse two men of multiple thefts in northeast Nebraska
MADISON COUNTY, Neb. (KOLN) - The Madison County Sheriff’s Office arrested two men on July 19 on suspicion of multiple thefts. On May 31, a man reported a generator stolen from his business in Newman Grove. According to the sheriff’s office, the generator was recovered after another man traded his plasma cutter to 25-year-old Alexander Robak for the generator. It was later discovered that the generator had been stolen, and the second man returned the generator to its owner.
