Congrats to the Jackson High School’s Ironladies’ cheer team who captured the Division III Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators State Championship last Saturday in Columbus.

Jackson’s talented cheer team had to qualify to get to the state tournament by winning Regionals and competing against 11 of the best school cheer programs from across the state in the Gameday Building Division.

When Coach Cortney Butcher was asked by the Courier if she is proud of the team, she said, “Proud would be an understatement. Their hard work and dedication to this program is unmatched. Every time they go on the mat they give 110%. Because of that, they’re undefeated. They are a TEAM. They come together for each other, and they never disappoint. They put in the work. They have grit and drive. They don’t want to win sometimes, they want to win every time. This is everything a coach wants. I am so impressed by all of their accomplishments.”

Coached by Butcher and Tiffany Boggs, the JHS cheerleading squad’s members are Gabby Palm, Grace Icenhower, Ali Rippeth, Alana Stockmeister, Lexi Helman, Grace Spradlin, Emily Wiggins, Olivia Taylor, Tayler Williams, Kami Muncy, Bryn Denny, McKinley Lizon, Bryn McGhee, Bryn Tripp, McKinley Riley, Lexi Butcher, Kiersten Snyder, Sophie Williams, Cannon Stifler, Mattison Robbins, Abi Baker, Rylie Kilgour, Bralee Lyons, Hannah Pennington and Jaycie Yeager.

Last season when the Ironmen’ cheerleading team conquered their rivals at the OASSA State Championship, they came home with a big trophy as OASSA State Runner-Up!

Next stop is the AmeriCheer International Cheerleading Championship that takes place March 16-17 in Orlando, Fla.

Our readers may remember that the Jackson cheer squad won the AmeriCheer championship last year and the year before that, so they are looking for a three-peat.

Monday, folks are invited to see the team in action for a send-off performance at 7 p.m. in the Jackson High School gymnasium.
