    Jackson Township promotes 2 at fire department, agrees to field upgrades at North Park

    Tuesday meeting

    ACTION: Appointed Gary H. Martin as training battalion chief and swore in a new captain for the fire department.

    DISCUSSION: Trustees appointed and swore in full-time Training Battalion Chief Gary H. Martin for the fire department, effective July 1, at a salary of $100,480. Martin was promoted from captain, a position he held since 2012.

    The trustees also swore in Capt. Anthony A. Hercules, effective June 28. He was promoted from firefighter to captain. The salary for Hercules was not known at the time of the meeting.

    OTHER ACTION:

    • Approved putting up additional stop signs at Wickford Avenue NW and Tidewater Street NW to take the intersection from a two-way to a four-way stop.
    • Approved baseball field renovations at fields #12, #14 and #15 in North Park. The fields for, the first time in over 20 years, will be stripped down and replaced by Lewis Landscaping for $67,455 total.
    • Authorized a roof replacement at Building No. 2 in South Park by Skyline Roofing and Exteriors for $14,942.
