Harrisburg School Board approves roof repairs, policy updates, budget
HARRISBURG, Arkansas — The Harrisburg School Board approved a contract for roof repairs and several policy changes during its last meeting before the 2024-2025 school year. Board members accepted a contract agreement on roof repairs to the old fieldhouse building. The board also approved the student handbooks for all three campuses, adopted the district policy book for the school year, and adopted policy changes as approved by the Arkansas School Boards Association.

Police: Man arrested after hitting police officer head-on while intoxicated
JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Police arrested a Jonesboro man after they said he hit a police officer who was responding to a call head-on. According to Public Information Specialist Sally Smith with the Jonesboro Police Department, at around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, Sgt. Brian Arnold was driving in an unmarked car to assist in a shooting incident in Poinsett County when he was hit head-on by an oncoming vehicle.

Two People Killed in Carroll County Traffic Crash
Two people from Berryville are dead after a three vehicle crash in Carroll County Thursday afternoon. According to the report filed by the Arkansas State Police, a pick-up truck driven by 36-year-old Matthew Porter was passing another pick-up along the east ditch line of Highway 21. As Porter's pick-up tried to reenter the roadway, it clipped the other pickup causing Porters' vehicle to spin into the other lane where it collided with a Freightliner truck.
