A brand new quick-service restaurant called Bap Bowl Korean Food is getting ready to make its debut in Jacksonville , located at 7534 Beach Boulevard Bay #9 .

Owner Jason Wu recently submitted a plan review application to the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation to open within or next to RD International Market, which had its soft opening at the beginning of the month. There is no exact timeline for when Bap Bowl Korean Food is set to open, but it will likely be sometime next month. When it opens, customers can expect a concept similar to Chipotle, but for Korean food, where customers start at the counter and customize their order as they go.

Similar to other well-known concepts, customers will start their order at Bap Bowl Korean Food with a choice of a base, with rice or noodles, followed by an entree. Protein options include Korean-style chicken, steak, pork and tofu. Additional toppings and extras will likely be available as well. Bap Bowl Korean Food will also have other Korean sides and entrees to purchase.

“At our establishment, the journey to a delicious meal begins with selecting the base of your dish,” Wu tells What Now Jacksonville in an email. “We provide four options: white rice, brown rice, spicy kimchi fried rice, and noodles. After choosing your base, you can pick from 8-10 types of protein options, all homemade and infused with authentic Korean flavors. To complement your meal, we also offer a selection of cold side dishes to add freshness and balance to your Bibimbap. Finally, top off your creation with one of our sauces, carefully designed to enhance the Korean style while promoting a healthy diet. In addition to Bibimbap, our menu features Korean fried chicken, traditional Korean soups, and sizzling hotplate dishes, providing a well-rounded experience of Korean cuisine.”

The new quick-service restaurant will move into an area destined to become the next dining hot spot, with RD International Market bringing even more food and drink options. The 52,600-square-foot market that replaced a former Winn-Dixie will have a food court and other hot offerings when it officially opens within the next month. On top of having plenty of new food and drink options, including fresh produce, refrigerated foods, frozen and fresh meats, and fish, the market will feature a variety of retail options, including décor and houseware. The market will be a perfect place for Bap Bowl Korean Food to establish itself before expanding to more locations.

“Our restaurant represents our first venture, and it’s our hope to expand this concept into more locations across the United States,” Wu tells What Now Jacksonville in an email. “We believe that delicious, healthy food is the best gift we can offer to our customers. Join us in experiencing the vibrant flavors and nutritional benefits of Korean cuisine, all served with speed and convenience in mind.”
