Chick-fil-A Working on Several New Sites

Chick-fil-A continues its national takeover, working on several new locations in the greater Jacksonville area.

Previously, What Now has reported on new sites opening up across northeast Florida, but it appears the company is nowhere close to slowing down. The Georga-based company has been in a lengthy battle with locals regarding a proposed location in the North Creek Subdivision, across the street from First Coast High School. Despite being approved to put a single land drive-thru restaurant on the site, the developer has applied for a rezoning application to add Chick-fil-A’s double-lane drive-thru model.

The Jacksonville city planning department recommended the approval early last month but under the condition that a traffic study be conducted before a vote scheduled for late February. Since then, the City of Jacksonville Land Use and Zoning Committee has been deferring the proposed Chick-fil-A in Oceanway after hearing from the developer and concerned neighbors. The traffic study must still be completed, and the next public hearing is set for April 16, according to First Coast News .

Now, even more Chick-fil-A’s are in the works. The company recently purchased the parcel at 1720 U.S. 1 in St. Augustine on February 13 for $3.4 million, according to property records. The space was previously used to become a Blue Penguin Car Wash, and before that, it served as a Sonny’s BBQ location. On top of that, Chick-fil-A has also filed pre-applications for a store at the northeast corner of Bartram Park Boulevard and Race Track Road and another store at 260 Nocatee Center Parkway.
