Where to watch 4th of July fireworks in Jacksonville, the Beaches and more

By Gary T. Mills and Tom Szaroleta, Jacksonville Florida Times-Union,

When it comes to fireworks shows, Jacksonville has a few, including annual displays for the Light Boat Parade on Thanksgiving weekend and New Year's Eve. But one of our favorite shows is the city's annual Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration. No jackets are needed, and you don't have to stay up until midnight to watch.

And as it has done in recent years, the City of Jacksonville is bringing the celebration to you, hosting fireworks displays across the city, not just downtown. But for traditionalists, nothing says the 4th of July like watching fireworks explode in the sky, reflecting in the waters of the St. Johns River and in the windows of downtown's skyscrapers with the Main Street Bridge as a centerpiece.

So after a day of grilling and eating hamburgers and hot dogs, savoring ice cream and apple pie, playing cornhole in the backyard or playing in or on the waters of the Atlantic and St. Johns, here's where you can catch fireworks marking the nation's 248th Independence Day.

What time are the July 4th fireworks in Jacksonville?

Fireworks are scheduled to start at 9 p.m. Thursday, July 4.
