Jacksonville native Hylton Stubbs, from Mandarin High School, has committed to the University of Miami Hurricanes. He did so on the Fourth of July after decommitting from USC last weekend.

Stubbs is the nation’s No. 56 overall prospect, No. 5 safety and No. 7 recruit from Florida in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

Miami, which beat out Florida for the Duval County product, is now up to No. 11 in the 247Sports team rankings.

“I chose Miami because I believe in coach Mario Cristobal’s leadership and the great coaching staff, including Guidry, Jackson, Taylor, Nicholson, Rumph, and Felix,” said Stubbs to 247Sports National Analyst Tom Loy. “Miami also offers a big market to help me build my brand.”

The 6-1, 190-pound four-star safety had 97 tackles (8.5 TFL), 6 INTs, 6 PBU, 3 FR, 2.5 sacks and 2 FF in his junior season. USC and Doug Belk would have loved to have coached Stubbs, developing him into an NFL-quality player. Now Mario Cristobal and Miami get that opportunity.
