Are people 'tired of waiting' for the Trevor Lawrence breakout?

Is there an element of fatigue entering the conversation around Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence?

It's an interesting idea to consider, especially after the team agreed to an extension that matches Joe Burrow's five-year pact worth $275 million, which puts it right at the top of the escalating quarterback market.

Alas, Lawrence took an eight-spot nosedive in quarterback rankings from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler , which take into account the league temperature on players based on conversations with executives, coaches and others.

One scout's comment about Lawrence was worth the raise of an eyebrow.

"I think people are tired of waiting on him," an AFC scout told Fowler. "I do think he'll put it all together eventually. He should be in the top 10."

Given the hype around Lawrence, he has no business ever landing in an "honorable mentions" section near names like Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray. Undoubtedly, issues around the former No. 1 pick on the roster, including poor line play that forced him to play through injuries after initially holding the AFC's No. 1 seed last year, haven't helped.

Of course, living up to "generational prospect" hype is mostly impossible. But Lawrence will need more consistent play and to get away from the league-high 21 turnovers from last season to keep the Jaguars a contention threat and get his name back up there alongside the likes of Burrow in something other than contract chatter.
